Job summary

Frognal House Care Home, part of Avery Healthcare Group, is seeking a Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals within budget. The role requires DBS check and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

You will lead and train kitchen staff, prepare modified diets according to IDDSI guidance, ensure high hygiene standards, and help staff understand the employer's food safety management system.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent catering qualification.
• Minimum of 1 year catering experience.
• DBS disclosure check and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support the head chef in leading a culinary team within budget.
• Prepare modified diets in line with IDDSI guidance.
• Supervise and direct kitchen staff as directed by the Head Chef.
• Instruct unqualified staff in simple food preparation.
• Apply safe food handling to meet hygiene standards in the kitchen.
• Support team in understanding the Avery Food safety management system.

What the job involves

• Prepare appealing, well-balanced modified diets in line with IDDSI guidance
• Supervise and direct culinary staff as directed by the Head Chef
• Instruct and demonstrate simple food preparation to unqualified staff
• Apply safe food handling principles to meet the highest hygiene standards in the kitchen
• Support culinary team members in understanding the Avery Food safety management system

What's required
