Avery Healthcare Group Ltd. is seeking a Sous Chef at Merlin Court Care Home, a residential setting serving older residents.

The role supports the head chef in running a culinary team that delivers nutritionally balanced meals within budget, including IDDSI-modified diets. The successful candidate will train and supervise kitchen staff, ensure food safety, and contribute to a positive dining experience for residents with a focus on high hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent catering qualification.
• At least one year of catering experience.
• Compassion and commitment to delivering high-quality culinary services to residents.
• Able to be adaptable and cover a range of responsibilities on short notice.

Responsabilités

• Prepare modified diets that are appealing, well balanced and follow IDDSI guidance.
• Supervise and direct culinary staff as directed by the Head Chef.
• Instruct and demonstrate simple food preparation to unqualified staff.
• Apply safe food handling principles so that all food preparation meets the highest hygiene standards.
• Support culinary team members in understanding the Avery food safety management system.
