Job summary

WSP seeks an Associate Director / Technical Director Soil Scientist to lead a growing soils team within Ground & Water, contributing to nationwide projects and advisory work.

You will shape soil strategy, oversee Agricultural Land Classification and Soil Resource Assessment, and collaborate with Environmental Planning, Nature Advisory and Sustainability teams to expand services while meeting key performance indicators.

Qualifications

• Degree in Soil Science (or similar) with 10+ years' consultancy experience.
• Experience leading and growing a consultancy team.
• Strong knowledge of H&S procedures (CDM).
• Knowledge of UK environmental legislation and land/agriculture issues.
• Proven ability to liaise with clients, authorities and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and written skills; professional body membership preferred.
• Chartered or eligible for chartership.

Responsibilities

• Direct and grow the soil team within Ground & Water, aligning with KPIs.
• Lead project delivery, fee proposals, business development and client work wins.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to expand soil services and client base.
• Support training and development of junior staff.
