Job summary

WSP UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Associate Director / Technical Director – Soil Scientist to lead our growing soil team within Ground & Water. You will expand capabilities, embed soil understanding across the business, and work with Ground & Water, Nature Advisory and other service lines.

The role offers flexible work from home options with office travel in the UK. You will guide Agricultural Land Classification and Soil Resource Assessments, expand our client base, and help meet key

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in Soil Science, or similar (environmental science)
• Demonstrable consultancy experience with strong policy knowledge
• Experience leading and growing a team
• Solid grounding in H&S procedures (CDM)
• Experience liaising with clients, contractors, planning authorities and stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g. British Society of Soil Science) and ideally chartered
• Knowledge of UK environmental legislation and agricultural land implications

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage the soil team, growing capabilities and client base with commercial focus
• Lead UK-wide project delivery, assist in fee proposals, business development and bid work
• Mentor junior staff and share knowledge across environmental disciplines
