Job summary

Raytheon UK is seeking a Software Engineer to join our defence and aerospace technology team in Gloucester. The role focuses on building software with industry best practices and delivering milestones within an agile environment.

You will work with React/NextJS, TypeScript, Python or Java, REST APIs, cloud services, containerisation, and testing frameworks. A security clearance (SC/eDV) is required, with hybrid work during clearance and full on-site when cleared.

Software Engineer

Location: Gloucester

Due to the interesting work we do and the sector this team is working in, we require all candidates to be willing to obtain and eligible to hold SC and eDV clearance.

Whilst on the SC clearance, you are able to work on a hybrid basis with 3 days per week on site. Full time on site would be required when eDV clearance is obtained

Role & Responsibilities

Required experience

• Core Software Engineering such as: JavaScript frameworks (React, NextJS), TypeScript, Python or Java




• REST API development / OpenAPI / Swagger




• Cloud services (AWS or Azure)




• Containerisation & Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)




• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)




• Relational Databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)




• Elasticsearch / Opensearch




• Unit testing and automation / Testing frameworks (e.g. Mocha, Jest, Cypress)




• Experience working in an Agile delivery team
