Job summary

Raytheon UK is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Gloucester or Manchester, UK. This permanent, onsite role requires current eDV clearance and involves designing and building software within a cyber-focused national security environment.

Work with React/TypeScript, Python/Java, REST APIs, cloud services, and container platforms. Collaboration, milestone delivery, and technical leadership are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Core Software Engineering experience with modern stacks (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python/Java).
• Experience building REST APIs and working with cloud services (AWS/Azure).
• Familiarity with containers (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift) and IaC (Terraform/Ansible).
• Proficient with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and search engines (Elasticsearch/OpenSearch).
• Experience in Agile delivery teams and automated testing frameworks.

Required Experience

• Core Software Engineering such as: JavaScript frameworks (React, NextJS), TypeScript, Python or Java
• REST API development / OpenAPI / Swagger
• Cloud services (AWS or Azure)
• Containerisation & Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Relational Databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)
• Elasticsearch / Opensearch
• Unit testing and automation / Testing frameworks (e.g. Mocha, Jest, Cypress)
• Experience working in an Agile delivery team
