Raytheon UK is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and build software in an agile environment, working with cutting-edge defence tech. You will collaborate with stakeholders and engineers, contribute to milestones, and advance technical direction within the team.

The role requires senior expertise across JS frameworks, Python/Java, cloud, and CI/CD, with a focus on delivering secure, robust systems from design to deployment.

Qualifications

• Experience in core software engineering with modern JS frameworks and Python/Java.
• REST API development using OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Cloud services in AWS or Azure.
• Containerisation and orchestration with Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform/Ansible.
• Relational DBs such as PostgreSQL; search with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.
• Unit testing and automation using Mocha/Jest/Cypress.
• Experience in Agile delivery teams.

Role & Responsibilities

Required experience

• Core Software Engineering such as: JavaScript frameworks (React, NextJS), TypeScript, Python or Java
• REST API development / OpenAPI / Swagger
• Cloud services (AWS or Azure)
• Containerisation & Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Relational Databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)
• Elasticsearch / Opensearch
• Unit testing and automation / Testing frameworks (e.g. Mocha, Jest, Cypress)
• Experience working in an Agile delivery team
