Job description
Site Operative – From £15 per Hour – Horsham, RH12 / Variable when on site (UK and Europe)

Are you confident working across busy sites, under challenging time frames and enjoy contributing to a team environment? Do you want a job where every day brings something new — and your hard work really shows in the finished result? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

The Role

We’re looking for a Site Operative to join Chord, supporting the smooth delivery of world‑class temporary structures. You will play a key part in bringing our clients’ visions to life, taking on varied tasks across warehouse preparation, logistics and on‑site assembly/dismantle.

When you’re not on‑site, you’ll be based at our Ellen’s Green (West Sussex) warehouse, preparing kit and equipment for upcoming projects. No two days are the same — one week you could be setting up at a major event, the next you’re fine‑tuning our materials ready for the next big build. Expect a fair bit of travel and overnight stays during our busy April–October season, with some other jobs in the quieter months.

If you enjoy practical work, take pride in getting the details right, and love being part of a great team, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of an experienced team with the Foreman and other Site Operatives.
  • Follow the Chord methodology and best practice when handling kit – we take our time, do not cut corners to avoid potential risk of injury and damage to equipment.
  • Build and deconstruct our structures at designated site locations and ensure that all tasks are accurately carried out with due care and attention.
  • Follow procedures (company and legislative) and Health & Safety rules while on site.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the Foreman – both on site and in the warehouse.
  • Attend team briefings prior to any jobs commencing and debriefing meetings following every dismantle.
  • Assist with loading all vehicles at the yard ready for departure for a job.
  • Be on stand‑by rota for live days.
  • Assist in topping up materials/tools/stock in all vehicles at the end of each job.
  • Take part in the cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
The Company

Chord was born from a desire to offer something better to the market: quality materials, high service levels, beautiful design, and highly functional products. Founder John Hart set up Chord in 2016 after working in the events industry for nearly 20 years when he saw a gap in the market for more customisable and quality temporary structures to help brands achieve their marketing and brand objectives. Chord has since become well known for offering exceptional service and product to the market and is proud to work with some of the world’s most luxury and best known brands.

The Person
  • Previous industry experience (erecting temporary structures, manual handling) – desirable.
  • MEWPs, Forklift or NPORS (or equivalent) certifications – desirable but not essential.
  • A proactive, self‑motivated attitude.
  • We value people who bring energy, reliability, and a positive mindset to every project.
  • A full, clean driving licence.
  • Valid passport.
  • Willingness to travel and stay away when required.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
