Job summary

XPO Logistics in Leigh is seeking a Site Operations Manager to lead a busy transport/warehouse operation. Based at the Leigh site, you will drive safe, efficient service, coach staff and manage customer relationships on a day-to-day basis.

The role requires experience as a Transport/Distribution/Operations Manager in a 3PL setting, with CPC and IOSH qualifications, and a strong focus on process, safety and results. Competitive salary and benefits offered.

Responsibilities

• Take full operational accountability for the Leigh site and ensure safe, efficient service.
• Coach and develop site teams to meet objectives.
• Manage relationships with customers and stakeholders; communicate across groups.
• Ensure teams comply with XPO policies and procedures.
• Support Contract Manager on compliance and safety requirements.
• Execute daily deliveries/collections plan with available resources.
• Collaborate with onsite customers for reviews and presentations.
• Provide leadership to enable team performance.

Is operating effectively in a transport / warehouse environment one of your strengths? Is coordinating drivers and ensuring you run a safe and efficient operation a day-to-day occurrence for you? Do you find building strong and sustainable relationships with stakeholders a habit? If so, we are looking for a Site Operations Manager to join us, on a full time, permanent basis, to be based out of the Leigh site.

The salary on offer will be up to £40,000. We also offer 25 days’ holiday (including bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, as well as a cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other benefits.

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

• Take full operational accountability and responsibility for your site, effectively managing your time to ensure a safe and efficient service
• As a true people manager, you will focus on ensuring that your colleagues receive the right level of support, coaching and development
• Manage the relationship between XPO and our customers, constantly communicating across various stakeholders
• Ensure that all teams are aligned, operating to XPO standard policies and procedures
• Support the Contract Manager with adherence to all compliance and legal obligations with a huge emphasis on safety, deputising in their absence
• Assist with executing the daily plan for all deliveries and collections, with a keen eye on resource available at site and keep the customer updated
• Working closely with the onsite customer on a day-to-day basis, you’ll support with period reviews and customer presentation in the contract managers absence.
• Provide leadership and guidance for your team to enable them to meet objectives, encouraging open communication

What You Need To Succeed At XPO

• Ideally you will already be a Transport/Distribution/Operations Manager working in or having experience in a 3PL environment , looking to prove yourself in a complex and diverse operation.
• A People manager and leader with a collaborative approach to achieving results
• A National/International CPC holder
• I.O.S.H Qualification
• Process driven
• You will have a track record of providing solutions to problems and delivering results in a fast paced environment
