Job summary

PSR Solutions is seeking a Finishing Manager in Birmingham to lead and deliver all internal and external finishes on a fast‑paced development. You will drive quality, safety and programme performance, ensuring a smooth handover.

You will own finishes from first fix to handover, coordinate with Site, Design and Commercial teams, and manage subcontractors to achieve right-first-time outcomes. CSCS and SMSTS/ IOSH are required.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of finishing trades and sequencing.
• Experience delivering finishes on complex residential schemes.
• Solid understanding of H&S legislation and best practices for finishes.
• Experience managing subcontractors, inspections, snagging and handover processes.

Responsibilities

Finishing Manager - Birmingham

Salary: Up to £58,000

Role Overview

The Finishing Manager will lead, coordinate and deliver all internal and external finishes packages across the project lifecycle. You'll drive quality, safety and programme performance, ensuring a smooth, high‑standard handover on a fast‑paced development.

Key Responsibilities

• Health & Safety compliance - Ensure all finishing works comply with company H&S policies, legislation and best practice, providing strong safety leadership to subcontractors and site teams.
• Finishes package management - Take full ownership of internal and external finishes from first fix through to final handover, driving delivery in line with programme milestones.
• Programme control - Manage finishes programmes, develop short-term schedules, and maintain coordination and sequencing across multiple work fronts.
• Risk & quality management - Identify and mitigate risks, oversee quality inspections, manage snagging, and ensure all works meet drawings, specifications and employer requirements.
• Design & procurement coordination - Work closely with Site, Design and Commercial teams to coordinate design information, procurement and delivery of finishes packages.
• Subcontractor leadership - Hold regular subcontractor meetings covering H&S, quality, programme and environmental performance.
• Benchmarking & approvals - Support mock-ups, sample reviews and benchmark standards to drive a right‑first‑time culture.
• Handover & aftercare - Liaise with Aftercare teams to ensure smooth handover, minimal defects and high customer satisfaction.
• Reporting & governance - Attend client, design and internal meetings, presenting progress reports and supporting compliance with Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
• Team development - Support SHEQ/HR with training, development and continuous improvement across the site team.
• Supply chain collaboration - Work with the Supply Chain Manager to monitor and feedback on subcontractor performance.

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong technical knowledge of finishing trades, including first fix and sequencing.
• Proven experience delivering finishes on high-rise residential or complex multi-unit schemes.
• Solid understanding of H&S legislation and best practice for finishing phases.
• Experienced in managing subcontractors, inspections, snagging and handover processes.
• Competent in interpreting drawings, specifications and coordinating design information.
• Excellent planning and organisation, able to manage multiple work fronts.
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• CSCS card essential.
• SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely required.
• First Aid desirable.
