Job summary

This freelance role involves hands-on management of finishing trades, coordinating subcontractors across multiple floors, and delivering high-quality apartment finishes on schedule.

The candidate will drive snagging, inspections, and handover readiness while upholding strict health and safety standards and collaborating with Site Managers and project teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Finishing Manager on high-rise residential or similar large-scale schemes.
• Strong knowledge of finishing trades, including internal fit-out and apartment completion.
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple finishing packages.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage finishing trades across the development to drive quality and timely completion.
• Monitor progress against programme and drive completion of outstanding works.
• Ensure apartments and communal areas meet required quality standards and undergo snagging/defect close-out.

FREELANCE FINISHING MANAGER
Newcastle upon Tyne High-Rise Residential Scheme
Contract: Freelance

Linear Recruitment are currently working with a leading main contractor who are seeking an experienced Finishing Manager to join a high-rise construction scheme in Newcastle upon Tyne.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finishing professional to take responsibility for the final stages of a major residential development, ensuring apartments and communal areas are completed to a high standard and handed over in line with programme requirements.

The Role

As Finishing Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the finishing trades across the development, driving quality, progress and timely completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the finishing stages of a high-rise residential construction project.
• Coordinating subcontractors and finishing trades across multiple floors and areas.
• Monitoring progress against programme and driving the completion of outstanding works.
• Ensuring apartments, communal areas and associated works are completed to the required quality standards.
• Managing snagging, inspections and the close-out of defects.
• Working closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and subcontractors to resolve issues efficiently.
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality and housekeeping.
• Supporting the successful handover of completed areas.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience as a Finishing Manager on high-rise residential or similar large-scale construction schemes.
• Strong knowledge of finishing trades, including internal fit-out and apartment completion.
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple finishing packages.
• A strong eye for detail, quality and snagging.
• The ability to drive progress and work to demanding deadlines.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Relevant site qualifications, including CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid.
