Job summary

Thames Water is recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician for our Chingford WTW team in London. You will inspect, maintain, fault-diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant with minimal supervision to keep sites operational and safe for customers.

You’ll perform planned maintenance, diagnose faults quickly, provide technical guidance, and may train technical trainees. A time-served apprenticeship and relevant electrical/mechanical qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with significant electrical systems experience in a true multi-skilled capacity.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test and repair plant safely.
• Open to dual-skilled development for candidates with either mechanical or electrical backgrounds.
• Strong health and safety awareness and appropriate training for confined spaces.
• A valid driving licence is essential; company provides tools and vehicle as required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment per procedures to minimise breakdowns.
• Investigate plant faults and carry out rapid repairs to avoid process interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and training support for technical trainees as required.
• Work on equipment such as pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, VSDs, valves, PLCs, and dosing equipment.
• Participate in standby rota following relevant training.
