Job summary

The Cotswold Company is opening a new showroom in Bury St Edmunds and seeks a hands-on Showroom Manager to lead the team from day one. You will own the P&L, hit sales targets and create an exceptional customer experience, reporting to the Retail Operations Manager and collaborating with head office teams.

Based in Bury St Edmunds, you will recruit and coach staff, maintain showroom standards, manage stock and payroll, and drive local opportunities while building a high-performing retail

Qualifications

• At least 3 years' management experience in a fast-paced retailer.
• Experience coaching teams and setting objectives.
• Understand HR basics: performance, capability and absence.

Responsibilities

• Own the showroom P&L and hit sales plans.
• Coach and develop the team with clear goals.
• Report weekly performance with insights and actions.
• Ensure excellent customer service and showroom standards.

We’re opening our newest showroom in Bury St Edmunds, and we’re looking for the person who’ll make it feel like home from day one.

The role

You’ll run the showroom as if it were your own business. That means owning the P&L, hitting your sales plans and creating the kind of experience customers remember. You’ll report to our Retail Operations Manager and work closely with fellow Showroom Managers and our head office teams.

• Set the standard for exceptional customer service, and show what it looks like on the floor.
• Keep the showroom safe and welcoming for your team and our customers.

• Coach, train and stretch your team through clear goals and regular feedback.
• Lead by example, bringing your retail experience and natural charm to every conversation.

Focus on Impact

• Deliver and exceed your sales plans and KPIs, from first visit through to follow-up on leads and quotes.
• Report on performance each week, with clear insight and practical next steps.
• Get to know Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding area: who your customers are, what local competitors are doing and where the opportunities are.
• Bring new ranges to life and make every square foot of the showroom earn its place.

Endure with Purpose

• Keep the showroom beautifully merchandised and in line with our visual guidelines.
• Take full ownership of stock, rotas, cash handling and payroll.

What you’ll bring

• At least three years’ management experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused retailer.
• A track record of coaching teams and setting objectives that stick.
• Confidence with HR basics: performance, capability and absence.
• A good understanding of KPIs and P&L, and the ability to talk about the numbers with ease.
• A real interest in furniture, interiors and design.
• Resilience, curiosity and a wish to keep finding better ways of doing things.
