Job summary

Highland Hospice’s Tain charity shop is seeking a Shop Manager to lead the volunteer team and oversee day-to-day operations. You will drive customer care, stock sorting/processing, and maintain strong shop presentation to maximise trading potential.

Hours are 37.5 per week (full-time). The role offers a supportive environment with opportunities to contribute to local community health services and develop retail skills within a hospice setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience of leading teams, ideally with volunteers.
  • Experience in a Charity Retail environment preferred.
  • Strong customer service mindset and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day shop operations and volunteers to maximise trading potential.
  • Work with volunteers to ensure high standards of customer care at all times.
  • Sort, steam and price incoming stock to maintain shop floor stock levels.
  • Maintain high presentation standards through layout, display and window dressing.

Highland Hospice is looking to recruit a Shop Manager for our successful Tain shop. We are looking for someone with drive and personality to lead the volunteer team and the day-to-day operation of our shop. Experience of team leadership is preferred, ideally with volunteer teams and in a Charity Retail environment. This is a great opportunity to develop your retail skills while making a meaningful contribution to the Hospice’s mission of supporting local communities.

DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Charity Shop Manager

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Area Manager, you can expect your working day to include the following:

  • As our Shop Manager you will manage the day-to-day operations of the shop and volunteers, enabling the shop to operate effectively and achieve its maximum trading potential.
  • You will work with volunteers to ensure that high standards of customer care are achieved at all times.
  • You will work with the volunteers to sort, steam and price incoming stock to ensure that the shop floor stock levels are maintained.
  • You will maintain a high standard of presentation in the shop through effective layout, display and window dressing.
