Job summary

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is seeking a Shop Manager in Twickenham to lead the brand-new charity shop from day one, driving sales, and ensuring excellent customer service. You will manage the shop team, oversee stock and donations, and deliver high retail standards while supporting the charity’s vital work.

The role requires experience in retail management, staff leadership, cash handling, and health & safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operation of the Twickenham charity shop from launch to stable performance.
  • Manage Assistant Shop Managers and volunteers to maximise income and high retail standards.
  • Drive sales, manage stock and donations, and create engaging displays.
  • Oversee shop finances, ensure policies and procedures are followed, and promote Gift Aid.
  • Identify high-value items and support charity initiatives to attract customers and donors.

Job Title:Shop Manager

Salary:c£29,000 per annum

Hours:Full Time, 37.5 per week

About the role

Your key purpose will be to lead the day to day operation of our brand-new Twickenham charity shop, a new and exciting opportunity to shape the success of a shop from the very beginning while making a meaningful difference to the families supported by Shooting Star Children's Hospices.

You will manage Assistant Shop Managers and a team of volunteers to maximise income, deliver exceptional customer service, and maintain high retail standards. You will be responsible for driving sales, managing stock and donations, creating engaging displays, overseeing shop finances, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. You will also play a key role in promoting Gift Aid, identifying high-value items, supporting charity initiatives, and ensuring the shop remains a welcoming and well-presented environment for customers, volunteers and supporters alike.

About you

This role requires experience of managing a retail environment, including responsibility for sales performance, customer service, cash handling and health and safety compliance. You will have experience leading and motivating staff, with the ability to build strong relationships and create a positive and inclusive team culture. Strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise competing demands and confidence in making operational decisions are essential. Experience of working with volunteers, charity retail, EPOS reporting and identifying opportunities to maximise income would be advantageous. Above all, you will be proactive, adaptable and passionate about delivering excellent service while supporting the vital work of Shooting Star Children's Hospices.
