Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Shift Manager for its Customer Services team to lead daily shift operations, manage customer expectations, and ensure timely delivery of equipment and support within contract scope.

You will monitor KPIs, coordinate with engineering, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining safety and quality standards on site. Experience in conveyors and electrical/mechanical systems is valued.

Qualifications

  • ONC in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
  • IOSH working safely (desirable)
  • Experience in previously managing a team (desirable)
  • Foundation qualifications in people management (desirable)
  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship
  • A working understanding of Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic technical manuals & drawings
  • Basic understanding of control systems and problem solving techniques
  • Basic understanding of PLC equipment
  • Working at height experience and willingness
  • Previous experience of working with various conveyor systems
  • Good level of PC literacy
  • Understanding of pre-preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Working knowledge of FEM and BS standards governing the automated warehouse industry
  • Have a continuous improvement mentality

Responsibilities

  • Manage the shift team in day-to-day activities.
  • Lead from the front and manage customer expectations.
  • Maintain, repair and support the equipment within the Dematic scope of contract on the customer site.
  • Deliver to Dematic and the Customer's KPI targets at all times.
  • Undertake AMHE equipment servicing in accordance with quality standards and schedules.
  • Undertake scheduled repairs per manufacturers' recommendations and industry practices.
  • Diagnose Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic / PLC / PC faults and perform repairs.
  • Prioritise system faults.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation at all times.
  • Ensure quality of output at all times.
  • Accurately record all work undertaken.
  • Involvement in continuous improvement and enhancement opportunities.
  • Maintain product flow at all times.
  • Ensure on-site spares are kept to optimum levels.
  • Represent the company professionally and maintain customer relations.
  • Adhere to the Quality processes and procedures.

Mak ing your impact



  • To Managing the shift team in day-to-day activities.

  • To lead from the front and manage customer expectations

  • To maintain, repair and support the equipment detailed within the agreed Dematic scope of contract on the Customers site.

  • Primarily ensuring delivery to both Dematic and the Customer's expectations with the aim of achieving KPI targets at all times.

  • Undertake AMHE equipment servicing in accordance with the quality standards and time schedules as set out in the equipment manuals

  • To undertake scheduled repairs in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and industry standard practices

  • Diagnosis of Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic / PLC / PC faults and subsequent repairs

  • Prioritise system faults

  • Compliance with Health & Safety legislation at all times

  • Ensure quality of output at all times

  • To accurately record all work undertaken

  • Involvement in continuous improvement and enhancement opportunities

  • Maintain product flow at all times

  • Ensure on-site spares are kept to optimum levels

  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times and maintain customer relations

  • Adherence to the Quality processes and procedures as set out by the company

  • Fully interact with the customer in day to day activities

  • To fully embrace and ensure delivery of key staff processes: Team and individual attendance

  • Staff discipline

  • Staff development identified through Staff Dialogue (appraisal)



  • Monitor and steer third party support contracts to ensure delivery of key service KPI's

  • Fully interact with other engineering team leaders to ensure consistency across shifts and best practice is shared

  • Be a path of escalation and control during breakdown situations
