Job summary

Dematic is seeking a PLC Automation & Maintenance Engineer to join our team on a site in the UK. You will provide technical support to shift teams, perform fault diagnosis, and maintain equipment within the Dematic scope of contract at the Customer site.

Responsibilities include corrective and preventive maintenance, complex fault diagnosis across mechanical, electrical, PLC and PC domains, and ensuring KPI targets are met. A strong engineering background and PLC proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

  • HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical controls systems and PLCs.
  • Desirable IOSH safety training and manufacturing standards knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support alongside shift teams.
  • Perform robust corrective and preventative fault resolution.
  • Maintain, repair and support equipment within the contract scope on site.
  • Meet Dematic and customer KPI targets at all times.
  • Carry out AMHE equipment servicing and scheduled repairs per manuals.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, PLC and PC faults.
  • Record all work accurately and maintain on-site spares levels.

Tasks and Qualifications

  • Providing technical support alongside the shift teams
  • Providing robust corrective and preventative fault resolution
  • To maintain, repair and support the equipment detailed within the agreed Dematic scope of contract on the Customers site.
  • Primarily ensuring delivery to both Dematic and the Customer’s expectations with the aim of achieving KPI targets at all times.
  • Undertake AMHE equipment servicing in accordance with the quality standards and time schedules as set out in the equipment manuals
  • To undertake scheduled repairs in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and industry standard practices
  • Advanced diagnosis of Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic / PLC / PC faults and subsequent repairs
  • Prioritise system faults
  • Compliance with Health & Safety legislation at all times
  • Ensure quality of output at all times
  • To accurately record all work undertaken
  • Involvement in continuous improvement and enhancement opportunities
  • Maintain product flow at all times
  • Ensure on-site spares are kept to optimum levels
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times and maintain customer relations
  • Adherence to the Quality processes and procedures as set out by the company
  • Fully interact with the customer in day to day activities
  • Monitor and steer third party support contracts to ensure delivery of key service KPI’s
  • Be a path of escalation and control during breakdown situations
Contributing to the Team
  • HNC in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
  • IOSH working safely (desirable)
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical controls system experience including inverter drives, barcode scanning equipment, Profibus / Profinet / ASi-bus / ASi-Safe / Ethernet etc.
  • Advanced PLC knowledge required (Siemens preferred)
  • PC, database, comm’s networks knowledge (preferred)
  • Warehouse Control System / Warehouse Management System knowledge (preferred)
  • Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship
  • A working understanding of Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic technical manuals & drawings
  • Advanced fault finding ability and aptitude
  • Working at height experience and willingnessPrevious experience of working with various conveyor/automation systems
  • Excellent level of PC literacy
  • Understanding of pre-preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Working knowledge of FEM and BS standards governing the automated warehouse industry
  • Have a continuous improvement mentality
