Job summary

Rehlko in Walkden, near Manchester, is seeking an experienced Generator Engineer for a predominantly depot-based role with a 4 on, 4 off shift. You will service, fault find and repair a fleet of diesel generators, ensuring reliability and readiness for hire or deployment.

Based at our Walkden depot, you will work with engines, alternators and control systems, documenting work and maintaining high safety standards while supporting occasional site visits across the North West.

Qualifications

• Experience with diesel generators or similar mechanical/electrical plant.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and service manuals.
• UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel generators.
• Maintain and repair generators returning to the Walkden depot.
• Complete routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Inspect generators returning from hire and identify repairs required.
• Prepare generators for deployment and inspect them before delivery.
• Diagnose faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic software.
• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs to a high standard.
• Conduct load bank testing and performance verification.
• Work with engines, alternators and control panels.
• Maintain accurate service records and compliance documentation.
• Ensure equipment meets quality, safety and compliance standards.
• Support continuous improvement in reliability and workshop processes.
• Maintain workshop organisation and health and safety.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams; occasional site support across the North West.
