Job summary

Rehlko in Salford is seeking a Shift Engineer to maintain and support a fleet of diesel generators (20–1500kVA), ensuring critical power infrastructure stays operational across the region.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, and work a 12-hour shift pattern (4 on/4 off). The role includes field support, accurate record-keeping, and strict health and safety adherence.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or time-served) in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
• Experience with diesel generators in the 20–1500kVA range.
• Full UK driving licence (max 6 points) with towing experience advantageous.
• Ability to fault-find and work independently or in small teams.
• Confident communicator and able to work unsupervised when required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on diesel generators.
• Diagnose faults and complete breakdown repairs.
• 12 hours per shift, on a 4 on / 4 off rota.
• Support mobile engineers in the field using a company vehicle.
• Maintain accurate job records and follow safety standards.
