Job summary

Rehlko in the United Kingdom is seeking a Shift Generator Engineer to service, maintain, fault-find and repair diesel generators. You’ll handle a fleet ranging from smaller sets to large multi-megawatt units, with some travel to customer sites across the North West.

A company van is provided for site attendance. The role is predominantly depot-based with a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern at Walkden, Manchester, offering stability, hands-on engineering, and opportunities to develop expertise across

Qualifications

• Experience with diesel generators or similar mechanical and electrical plant.
• Ability to diagnose faults and perform repairs.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and service manuals.
• Willingness to work a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel generators ranging from smaller sets through to large multi-megawatt units.
• Maintain and repair generators returning to the Walkden depot from customer hire.
• Complete routine servicing and preventative maintenance to maximise generator reliability and availability.
• Carry out thorough inspections on generators returning from hire and identify any repairs or remedial work required.
• Prepare and inspect generators before they are deployed back to customer sites.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools, equipment and diagnostic software.
• Complete mechanical and electrical repairs to a high standard.
• Conduct load bank testing, functional checks and performance verification.
• Work across engines, alternators, control panels and associated generator systems.
• Prepare generators, distribution equipment and associated components for customer hire.
• Maintain accurate service records, job sheets and compliance documentation.
• Ensure all equipment meets Rehlko’s quality, safety and compliance standards before leaving the depot.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and workshop processes.
• Maintain high standards of workshop organisation, housekeeping and health and safety.
• Work collaboratively with engineering and operations teams to ensure equipment is prepared and available when required.
• Provide occasional engineering support at customer sites across the North West when required.
