Job summary

Rehlko, based at the Walkden depot near Manchester, is seeking a Shift Generator Engineer to service, maintain and repair diesel generators on a 4 on, 4 off pattern.

The role is depot-based with occasional site work across the North West; a company van is provided when on site. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, perform testing, and ensure compliance with safety standards while supporting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with diesel generators or similar mechanical/electrical plant."
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience carrying out servicing, planned maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and service manuals.
• Experience with engines such as Volvo, Scania, Perkins or MTU is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair diesel generators ranging from small sets to multi-megawatt units.
• Inspect, fault-find and repair generators returning from customer hire.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance to maximise reliability and availability.
• Prepare, inspect and test generators prior to deployment, including load bank testing and performance verification.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults across engines, alternators, control panels and generator systems.
• Prepare generators, distribution equipment and accessories for customer hire.
• Maintain accurate service records, job sheets and compliance documentation.
• Ensure all equipment meets quality, safety and compliance standards before leaving the depot.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, workshop organisation and health & safety standards.
• Work with engineering and operations teams and provide occasional site support across the North West.
