Job summary

M Group is seeking a proactive SHE Advisor to safeguard drinking water infrastructure projects across our region. You will drive safety, health and environmental performance, deliver coaching and inductions, and support project mobilisations to ensure regulatory compliance and client satisfaction.

You will collaborate with engineering and operations teams, conduct audits, and lead incident investigations where needed, including root cause analysis, nurturing a safety-first culture on-site.

Qualifications

  • Understand SHE legislation and codes of practice and its application in construction.
  • Experience in SHE for utilities, civil projects and large-scale construction.
  • Experience with Business Management Systems for contract and client procedures.
  • Ability to audit, identify non-conformance, and drive preventative actions.
  • Ability to conduct site inspections and investigations when required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure sites comply with company procedures, client expectations and legislation.
  • Lead continuous improvement in safety, health and environmental performance.
  • Provide coaching, training and inductions; support project mobilisation.
  • Lead well-being campaigns and competency assessments; assist incident investigations.
  • Engage on-site with proactive SHE observation reporting, including out-of-hours visits.

This role will be within our clean water team. Safeguarding the quality, reliability, and performance of drinking water across our region. We work across complex network systems, enhancing, maintaining, installing, and repairing infrastructure from pipes to water meters, to ensure consistently high-water quality. Through proactive network management and resilient engineering, we help ensure communities have safe, dependable water supplies every day.

What will you be doing?

You’ll ensure sites are compliant with company procedures, client expectations, and legislative requirements, with a strong focus on continuous improvement in safety, health, and environmental performance. Support the consistent implementation of SHE standards, promote CDM regulation awareness, and foster SHE skill development across operational and engineering teams. Including delivering coaching, training, and inductions, supporting project mobilisation, and leading well-being campaigns. Identify training needs, conduct competency assessments, and assist with incident investigations, including root cause analysis and serious case reviews. Through proactive engagement and encourage SHE observation reporting and maintain a visible presence on-site, including out-of-hours visits.

What you’ll bring
  • - Understanding of SHE related legislation and related codes of practice and it’s application in construction.
  • - Experience in SHE practices for Utilities, civil projects and large scale construction projects
  • - Experience of Business Management Systems relevant contract and client procedures
  • - Ability to conduct audit, identify and address Non-Conformance, recommend preventative action, develop new initiatives, co-ordinate to ensure their implementation
  • - Ability to conduct and inspections.
  • - NEBOSH Diploma or working towards, Relevant degree or equivalent NVQ level qualification
  • - IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management or equivalent
  • - ISO Internal auditor 9001
  • - Valid UK driving license
