Job summary

Carrington West is recruiting for a Setting Out Engineer on a major highways infrastructure project in Ballinluig, Perthshire. You will work with Senior Engineers to deliver precise setting out, ensuring work complies with drawings, specs and QA standards.

Role involves using total stations, GPS and levelling equipment, interpreting designs and maintaining site records to support safe, efficient construction.

Qualifications

• Experience setting out highways earthworks and drainage.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong QA processes and maintaining accurate site records.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills on site.

Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out for highways construction, earthworks and drainage.
• Use surveying equipment (total stations, GPS, levelling) to ensure accuracy.
• Interpret drawings and technical specifications to support site operations.
• Conduct site surveys and as-built measurements throughout construction.
• Ensure works are completed in line with approved drawings and quality standards.
• Assist with inspection/test plans and QA documentation on site.
• Collaborate with site supervisors and contractors to resolve technical issues.
• Monitor construction progress and flag discrepancies between design and site conditions.
• Maintain accurate site records and progress reports.
• Promote health, safety and environmental compliance across the project.
