Job summary

Peace Recruitment Group is seeking a Setting Out Engineer to support major infrastructure projects across Scotland. You will join a well-established civil contractor, delivering accurate setting out, surveying, and QA across earthworks, roads, drainage, and structures.

The role requires HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering, plus proven setting out experience and a UK driving license. You’ll work with GPS/total station equipment and collaborate with Site Agents and Project Managers.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Setting out experience in civil engineering is required.
• Experience in earthworks, drainage, roads, concrete, utilities or infrastructure is desirable.
• Proficiency with GPS and total station equipment is important.
• Strong reading of construction drawings and specifications; good communication skills; valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

An established and highly respected civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint a Setting Out Engineer to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects across Scotland.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer with a strong setting out background who wants to join a contractor with a healthy pipeline of work across infrastructure, earthworks, roads, drainage, structures and energy-related projects.

The Role

Working as part of the site delivery team, you will be responsible for ensuring works are accurately set out and delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Setting out and surveying works across civil engineering projects
• Establishing and maintaining site control
• Using GPS, total stations and other surveying equipment
• Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
• Producing and maintaining accurate site records
• Carrying out quality checks and ensuring works meet required standards
• Supporting Site Agents and Project Managers with technical queries
• Liaising with subcontractors and site teams
• Assisting with QA documentation, as-built information and progress records
• Ensuring works are delivered safely and in accordance with project requirements

What We're Looking For

Ideally, you will have:

• HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
• Previous setting out experience within civil engineering
• Experience across areas such as earthworks, drainage, roads, concrete, utilities or infrastructure
• Competence using GPS and total station equipment
• Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Full UK driving licence
