Job summary

365 Recruit is seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer for a busy construction project in the UK. You will perform precise setting-out and surveying, working with Site Managers and subcontractors to ensure works align with drawings, specifications and programme.

You will use Total Stations and GPS/GNSS, interpret drawings, check tolerances, and maintain accurate survey records. CSCS and civil engineering qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Setting Out Engineer on construction or civil projects.
• Competent with Total Station and GPS/GNSS equipment.
• Strong reading of drawings, levels, coordinates and tolerances.
• Experience with AutoCAD or related engineering/surveying software.
• QA procedures and as-built documentation knowledge.
• Detail-oriented with ability to identify issues early.
• Ability to work independently within a wider site team.
• HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• CSCS card held and valid.

Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out for foundations, drainage, roads, kerbs and utilities.
• Establish and maintain site control points, datums and benchmarks.
• Use Total Stations, GPS/GNSS and surveying equipment to complete setting-out tasks.
• Interpret and verify drawings, specifications and construction information.
• Check dimensions, levels, coordinates and tolerances on site.
• Undertake as-built surveys and maintain records.
• Provide technical support to site teams and subcontractors.
• Identify discrepancies between drawings and site conditions; raise queries.
• Coordinate with Site Managers, Project Managers, designers and subcontractors.
• Support QA, inspections and completion documentation.
• Ensure works follow drawings, specs and method statements.
• Maintain accurate records of setting-out information.
