Job summary

AWS EMEA SARL (UK Branch) is seeking an experienced Service Transition Lead to oversee the controlled transfer of HMRC DCE workloads from project delivery into the Run & Operate model. You will drive the transition plan, establish acceptance criteria, and chair review boards to ensure a smooth handover with full documentation and readiness, aligning with program milestones.

Success requires strong ITIL knowledge, AWS cloud experience, and proven stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Stakeholder management across varied levels.
• Experience as a Service Transition Lead in large IT transformations or data centre exits.
• Solid ITIL understanding: Service Transition, Service Operation, CSIP.
• Experience with AWS cloud environments and cloud-native operations.
• Experience in UK public sector programmes or prime contractor models.
• Strong documentation governance and artefact quality.
• Excellent communication and facilitation for review boards.
• Experience with service acceptance testing and readiness assessments.
• Familiarity with Agile or PRINCE2 project management methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end service transition for workloads migrating to AWS platform.
• Develop and maintain the Service Transition Plan aligned with milestones and Day 1 readiness.
• Define/ manage service acceptance criteria with R&O Lead for go-live readiness.
• Chair AWS Service Transition Review Boards for handover approvals.
• Produce operational docs: Runbooks, SOPs, architecture, configurations, monitoring, incident/change management, DR/BC plans.
• Identify transition risks and issues; manage to resolution.
• Coordinate Early Life Support (ELS) entry/exit criteria and coverage.
• Ensure knowledge transfer to R&O team and evidence thereof.
• Maintain service catalogue and CMDB entries; provide status reports to governance.
• Interface with HMRC stakeholders to ensure acceptance and alignment.
