Job Description:

The Service Manager is responsible for coordinating staff and resources to achieve high standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of service users. Ensuring their welfare and compliance with organizational standards, statutory, and contractual requirements. The manager will operate within a legislative framework, ensuring all practices align with current laws and guidelines, and promote the organization’s values and care ethos.

The Area Service Manager will oversee and support managers across five supported living projects and community activities for adults and children within Lynton Community Care, reporting directly to the Registered Individual.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Referring, assessing, and liaising with previous care teams, families, and advocates to develop personalized care and risk management plans.
  2. Maintaining effective communication and relationships with service users, relatives, and professionals involved in their care.
  3. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices, including the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (revised 2012), Health & Safety, COSHH, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  4. Controlling the environment of the homes to ensure health, safety, and infection control standards are met, including risk assessments and fire safety checks.
  5. Working with CIW to understand and comply with Fundamental Standards and carrying out statutory notifications as required.
  6. Managing legal and statutory documentation, including insurance and enrollment documents, and maintaining maintenance records.
  7. Monitoring and investigating complaints, generating reports, and implementing corrective actions.
  8. Recruiting, inducting, and training staff, supporting their development, and promoting a culture of openness and honesty.
  9. Conducting staff meetings, supervision, disciplinary processes, and managing staff schedules, absences, and holidays.
  10. Managing budgets, including petty cash, food shopping, and activity budgets.
  11. Safeguarding service users and addressing safeguarding issues.
  12. Handling applications related to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and working with personal representatives to ensure legal compliance.
  13. Being on call out of hours for advice, guidance, and incident response.
  14. Participating in supervision, CPD, and strategic decision-making to grow the business.
  15. Performing other duties as assigned by the Director, including financial management and report writing.

The Service Manager must possess skills and qualifications to support both adults and children with learning disabilities.
