Job summary

Speechify is seeking a seasoned Windows desktop engineer to design and ship native applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML. You’ll collaborate with product designers, QA, and engineers to shape a robust, accessible desktop experience.

You will own feature lifecycles from conception to release, enforce best practices, optimize performance, and mentor others. The role emphasizes reliability, accessibility, and cross-version compatibility in a distributed team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development with Windows App SDK and WinUI (or similar).
• Strong interop knowledge between .NET and native code (C++).
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with emphasis on reliability and performance.
• Strong accessibility experience with Windows UI Automation or equivalent.
• Solid foundations in OOP, design patterns, data structures and multi-threading.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, and code reviews.
• Excellent communication and user-centered mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts and ensure screen-reader support and keyboard navigation.
• Collaborate with designers, QA, and stakeholders on feature planning and roadmap.
• Own full lifecycle of features from conception to maintenance.
• Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory issues, and cross-version problems.
