Job summary

Speechify in Leeds is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, architect, and deliver native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML. You will work across the full stack, ensure high performance and accessibility, and collaborate with design, QA, and product teams to shape the Windows platform roadmap.

The role emphasizes leadership, technical design, mentorship, and delivering polished, reliable software for millions of users worldwide.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML; native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM) is a plus.
• Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with emphasis on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Strong accessibility experience on Windows APIs and inclusive software.
• Solid fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading/async.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and optional C++.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts to support screen readers, keyboard navigation, and focus management.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders on UI/UX architecture and roadmap.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, and memory issues; propose robust solutions.
