Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Principal or Associate Tunnelling Engineer to join our Geotechnical and Tunnelling business. You will contribute to the growth of the team and diversify into new markets and sectors across the UK and Ireland.

You will manage and deliver tunnelling projects, lead multidisciplinary design teams, and develop client relationships while mentoring staff and supporting business development.

Qualifications

• Experience in management and delivery of tunnelling projects.
• Technical expertise in civil/structural and geotechnical engineering for tunnelling schemes.
• Consultancy with commercial awareness and client/contractor relationships.
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent registration.
• Experience with Eurocodes and design standards.
• Experience leading delivery teams from inception to construction.
• Excellent report-writing and client liaison skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and tunnelling/geotechnical software (CAD, Ground Movement Analysis).
• Ability to check and critically evaluate others' work.

Responsibilities

• Producing, checking and approving reports, calculations and drawings for tunnels and shafts.
• Collaborating with tunnelling and geotechnical engineers on varied projects from feasibility to construction.
• Managing project work with robust financial management.
• Allocating resources and mentoring staff.
• Supporting client liaison, contractors, sub-consultants and stakeholders.
• Carrying out business development and technical proposals.
