Job summary

WSP is seeking a Tunnelling Engineer or Senior Tunnelling Engineer in the UK to join the Geotechnics and Tunnelling team. You will deliver tunnel and underground project designs with multi-disciplinary input, from feasibility through construction, mentoring staff and supporting business development.

The role requires deep knowledge of tunnelling, geotechnical principles, and experience delivering complex schemes. Hybrid working across UK offices is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or higher in an engineering discipline relevant to tunnelling.
• Chartered or near-chartered with a professional institution.
• Proven experience delivering tunnelling/underground projects with multi-disciplinary input.

Responsibilities

• Produce and check tunnel/shaft design deliverables (reports, drawings, calculations).
• Work in a team on micro-tunnels to major road/rail schemes from feasibility to construction.
• Manage and deliver project work and allocate resources.
• Mentor junior staff and support staff development.
• Support client liaison, contractors, and sub-consultants; assist with quality control.
