Job summary

Davies seeks a Senior Technical Surveyor (Subsidence) to lead complex subsidence investigations from first visit to final resolution. The role is home-based with travel, ideally based around the Leeds area, and involves managing technical reports, stabilisation schemes and client liaison.

You’ll provide expert guidance to colleagues and clients, coordinate with insurers and loss adjusters, and mentor teammates while delivering high-quality service within a specialist subsidence division.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Surveying or related discipline
• Strong experience in subsidence investigation and building pathology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proactive, organised and able to work independently
• Flexible mindset and resilience in a fast-paced environment
• Understanding of buildings insurance, contract administration and construction law
• Full, clean UK driving licence
• Enthusiasm and commitment to delivering outstanding customer service

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead on complex subsidence claims from investigation to resolution
• Visit damaged properties to assess structural and insurance-related issues
• Design and oversee stabilisation schemes and repair strategies
• Produce high-quality technical reports, specifications and tender documents
• Interpret geotechnical investigations and advise on foundation solutions
• Manage building contracts, valuations and variations
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Planning, CDM and Party Wall legislation
• Collaborate with policyholders, insurers, loss adjusters, contractors and authorities
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to training
• Maintain accurate case records and meet service levels
• Support Davies divisions and strengthen client relationships

Are you ready to take on some of the most technically challenging and rewarding subsidence claims in the industry?

Davies is looking for a skilled, motivated professional to join our specialist subsidence division — someone who thrives on complex problem‑solving, enjoys autonomy, and wants to make a real impact for clients and policyholders.

This is a home‑based role with travel you will ideally be based around the Leeds area with the freedom to manage your own workload while being part of a supportive, expert team.

What will your day look like:

You’ll be the technical lead on our more complex domestic and commercial subsidence claims, providing expert guidance to colleagues and clients. Your work will include:

• Managing complex subsidence investigations from first visit to final resolution
• Visiting damaged properties to assess structural, technical and insurance‑related issues
• Designing and overseeing stabilisation schemes and repair strategies
• Producing high‑quality technical reports, specifications and tender documents
• Interpreting geotechnical investigations and advising on foundation solutions
• Administering building contracts, valuations and variations
• Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, Planning, CDM and Party Wall legislation
• Working closely with policyholders, insurers, loss adjusters, contractors and local authorities
• Supporting and mentoring colleagues, and contributing to training delivery
• Maintaining accurate case records and meeting service level expectations
• You’ll also play a key role in strengthening client relationships and supporting other Davies divisions when needed.

Knowledge and Abilities:

We’re looking for someone with the technical depth and confidence to handle highly complex subsidence cases. You’ll ideally have:

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Surveying or a related discipline
• Strong experience in subsidence investigation and building pathology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, organised approach and the ability to work independently
• A flexible mindset and the resilience to thrive in a fast‑paced environment
• Solid understanding of buildings insurance, contract administration and construction law
• A full, clean UK driving licence
• Enthusiasm, professionalism and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service are essential.
