Job summary

Amey is seeking a permanent Technical Director in Structural Engineering to oversee a portfolio of projects, providing technical direction, leadership and strategic input. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, ensure design quality, and drive the delivery of schemes with a focus on safety and value.

You will act as SME, lead bids, and direct people across locations, including site work and out-of-hours when required. Hybrid working and a strong career development framework are offered.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead complex structural engineering projects.
• Experience directing design and calculations across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong communication with clients and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical specialist and SME, directing teams across locations.
• Lead preparation and checking of designs, drawings and documentation to quality, cost and programme criteria.
• Manage budgets and project costs for portfolio deliverables.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives up to director level, including presenting proposals.
• Identify opportunities for technical initiatives and sponsor their development.
• Lead bids and work-winning activities, including bid director responsibilities.
• Work on site as required, including out-of-hours shifts.
• Act as people manager when required by the business.
