Job summary

WSP is seeking a Technical Director to lead structural engineering services for major energy infrastructure projects in the UK. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and drive technical excellence across substations, transmission and distribution assets, and power stations.

We value Chartered Engineers and senior leadership experience, with a track record in delivering complex projects.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with a professional body (CEng) is required.
• Significant experience in structural engineering design and project leadership.
• Experience across substations, transmission and distribution, OHL, power stations or petrochemical facilities is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing, and risk management.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Contribute to business development, including bids, proposals, and client presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and sustainable design solutions.
• Support the development of best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
