Job summary

WSP is seeking a Technical Director to lead structural engineering services for major energy infrastructure projects, including Transmission and Distribution networks, substations, OHL structures, and power stations. You will guide project teams, manage client relationships, and define technical strategy.

The role offers senior leadership with hybrid working arrangements within a global consultancy, enabling you to shape the UK energy landscape and mentor diverse engineering talent.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in structural engineering design and project leadership.
• Ideally experience in substations, transmission and distribution infrastructure, power stations, or petrochemical facilities.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing, and risk management.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, and power stations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering technical excellence.
• Contribute to bids, proposals, and client presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and sustainable design solutions.
• Drive best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
