Job summary

WSP in the UK is seeking a Technical Director to lead the structural engineering of major energy infrastructure projects, including Transmission and Distribution networks, substations, and power stations. You will steer project teams, manage client relationships and drive technical excellence and innovation across our portfolio.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to bids and business development, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant professional body.
• Significant experience in structural engineering design and project leadership.
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing, and risk management.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Contribute to business development, including bids, proposals, and client presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and sustainable design solutions.
• Support the development of best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
