Job summary

Sword Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Managed Services team in the UK. You will provide day-to-day operational support for on‑premise and datacentre environments, owning incidents from detection to resolution and driving improvements.

Key focus areas include Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, storage and backups, with a strong emphasis on automation, observability and delivering stable, secure, and measurable services to customers.

Qualifications

• Strong operational knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and core data centre services.
• Experience with on-premises and datacentre services including server platforms and virtualization.
• Experience supporting Windows and Linux servers with patching, hardening and lifecycle management.
• Experience operating ITIL-aligned managed services with incident/problem/change processes.
• Ability to use observability, monitoring and service data to improve reliability.
• Ability to write automation and scripts to reduce manual effort.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for customer systems across on-premise and datacentre environments.
• Monitor service health using alerts, logs, metrics and trends to identify degradation early.
• Investigate and resolve incidents across Windows/Linux servers, AD, DNS, DHCP and related services.
• Manage incidents, service requests, changes and tasks per agreed commitments.
• Carry out patching, configuration changes, and routine platform maintenance.
