Job summary

Sword is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our Managed Services team. You’ll support and improve customer systems across on-premise and datacentre environments, taking ownership and applying a methodical, proactive engineering approach to prevent issues.

You will work across server, virtualization, storage, backup, identity and platform services, using observability and automation to keep services stable, secure and measurable while continually finding practical improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong operational knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and core datacentre services.
• Experience with on-premises and datacentre services, including server platforms, virtualization, storage and identity.
• Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux servers, including patching, hardening and lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support, administration and maintenance for customer systems across on-premise and datacentre environments.
• Monitor service health and use alerts, logs and metrics to identify degradation early.
• Manage incidents, service requests, changes and tasks per service commitments and priorities.
• Support root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
• Carry out patching, configuration changes and vulnerability remediation.
