Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR in the UK seeks an Expert - Structures to lead structural engineering across SMR programmes with a focus on safety, governance and strategic influence. This senior role works with cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges and shape future capability.

You will mentor engineers, develop technical standards and present robust solutions to stakeholders, with hybrid working at Derby, Warrington or Manchester as a primary location and travel as required.

Qualifications

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer status, or equivalent.
• Experience leading structural delivery on major infrastructure, nuclear, power or other regulated programmes.
• Deep expertise in structural analysis, design and substantiation with varied loading scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across structural engineering activities for SMR design.
• Lead resolution of complex multidisciplinary engineering challenges balancing safety, quality and programme priorities.
• Develop engineering strategy, capability and standards for structures discipline.
• Mentor and sponsor engineers; support professional development and chartership.
• Present and defend technical solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with nuclear safety, reactor, mechanical and systems teams to ensure integrated solutions.
• Identify technical improvements to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
• Support the wider leadership team to foster wellbeing, inclusion and continuous improvement.
