Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR is recruiting a Senior Construction Manager to lead the RR SMR project across multiple geographies. You will coordinate with Programme Managers, clients, contractors and design teams to ensure safe, on-time construction readiness and high-quality delivery.

Hybrid role based in Derby, Manchester or Warrington with travel; salary between £60,000 and £78,750, plus benefits and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of managing construction projects (civils, oil and gas, nuclear, overseas).
• Strong focus on milestones, cost efficiency and outcome predictability.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
• This is a management role requiring good communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience of complex programmes with multiple supplier arrangements and client relationships.
• Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in large-scale, complex construction with client satisfaction.
• Understanding of budgeting, contracts, H&S and construction law in UK/Europe.
• Continuous Professional Development.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-quality delivery, cost efficiency, and timely completion of the RR SMR in conjunction with Programme Managers (Construction).
• Oversee construction management from initial planning through to final handover.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, architects, design and internal teams to deliver RR SMR with safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Support in defining construction planning and execution from design to delivery.
• Define civils supply chain partner requirements and participate in procurement.
• Develop cost estimation and a repeatable, modular build approach across geographies.
• Support country delivery, monitor progress, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies with the Programme Manager (Construction).
• Resolve issues with contractors or internal teams in a timely and effective manner.
