Job summary

Very Good Security (VGS) in Europe seeks a Solutions Support Engineer to be the technical front door for EU prospects and customers. You will scope use cases, map payment flows, and design solutions with EU Sales, then continue to provide ongoing technical support through go-lives.

This growth role moves from senior support/ integration to shaping how Solutions and Support operate in Europe, collaborating with the EU team and aligning with US standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in technical support, integration or implementation engineering, solutions engineering, technical account management, or solutions architecture, with some of it in a senior or lead capacity.
• Proven ability to work independently as the technical expert in a customer-facing role, deciding and then reporting rather than checking first.
• Background at a merchant, PSP, processor, acquirer, issuer, card network, or payment infrastructure company.
• Experience with large-scale card or credential migrations, and with multi-PSP, payment orchestration, processor-routing, or payment portability strategies.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS, data security, privacy, and compliance architecture.
• Strong communication skills: explain complex concepts, create solution diagrams, support executive briefings, and coach colleagues across teams.
• Strong command of HTTP, REST APIs, and proxies; able to debug networks and describe diagnosed problems.
• Ability to read and debug code and write working code examples in Python, JavaScript, Java, or Ruby.
• Out-of-the-box thinking suited to fast-paced startup environments.
• English at C1 or above, written and spoken.
• Strong collaboration, negotiation, and prioritization skills.
• Willingness to work EU business hours on a sustained basis.

Responsibilities

• Lead EU client engagements from discovery through architecture approval and support other EU opportunities.
• Map payment flows across merchants, PSPs, processors, acquirers, card networks, wallets, and third parties.
• Architect solutions using VGS capabilities including vaulting, tokenization and data security.
• Guide customers on payment security best practices and PCI scope reduction.
• Create and deliver architecture diagrams, proposals, demos, and proofs of concept; support responses to RFIs and security reviews.
• Coordinate with US team to align EU work with VGS standards and reuse patterns.
• Produce detailed handoffs to Implementation with architecture, testing and success metrics.
• Escalate as the solution-level expert to diagnose and redesign customer setups where needed.
• Turn customer/market feedback into product roadmap input and reusable reference architectures.
