Job summary

Humanoid in the United Kingdom is seeking a Software Test Engineer to own the quality of the software surrounding our humanoid platform. You’ll test the operator console, inference servers, and backend services that connect the system together.

This is a software-first role focusing on APIs, web UIs, and distributed services. You’ll design automated tests, run them in CI/CD, and collaborate with backend, frontend, and ML platform teams to improve reliability, performance, and resilience.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in software testing, with strong experience testing client-server systems (front-end, back-end, APIs).
• Strong grasp of testing theory and test design techniques — equivalence partitioning, boundary analysis, state-based testing.
• Hands-on Python for test automation. Familiarity with an API testing framework (pytest + requests, or equivalent).
• Comfortable in Linux environments and interacting with services over the terminal.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines integration of automated tests.
• Experience with test management or task tracking systems (Jira, TestRail, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Console Testing: Own the quality of the humanoid operator console — front-end behavior, API contracts, edge cases, and user-facing flows.
• Inference Infrastructure: Test the inference servers and model-serving stack — latency, throughput, failover, version rollouts.
• Backend Services: Validate backend services and their APIs — auth, data pipelines, telemetry, fleet management — including contract testing and integration testing.
• Test Automation: Design and implement automated test suites that run in CI/CD; expand coverage as the platform grows.
• Quality Strategy: Define test methods, quality criteria, and metrics; participate in shaping the overall testing strategy for the software platform.
• Documentation: Document tests in our test tracking system and keep internal documentation accurate.
