Job summary

Humanoid in the United Kingdom is advancing HMND-01 Alpha, a rapidly developed humanoid platform, and seeks a Senior Systems Engineer - Software & Autonomy to shape the software stack that powers the robot.

You’ll work across perception, localisation, navigation, AI, motion planning, ROS 2, simulation, deployment, and diagnostics, translating stakeholder needs into verifiable system requirements while aligning with safety and verification criteria.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Five+ years of experience in systems engineering or robotics software.
• Experience with complex software-intensive or cyber-physical systems.
• Strong knowledge of requirements engineering, architecture definition, interface management, integration, verification, validation, and traceability.
• Proficiency in ROS/ROS 2, robotics software, perception, localization, mapping, navigation, planning, AI, simulation, and real-time systems.

Responsibilities

• Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable system and software requirements.
• Define software capabilities to support humanoid robot behaviours and product objectives.
• Decompose capabilities across perception, navigation, AI, planning, controls, and platform software.
• Develop and maintain architecture of the robot’s software and autonomy stack.
• Define interfaces, data ownership, timing, and fault handling across components.
• Lead integration across perception, navigation, AI, controls, firmware, sensors, and mechanics.
• Define integration stages, test environments, and readiness criteria.
• Investigate complex system-level issues spanning software and hardware.
