Job summary

Siloton in Bristol is seeking a Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer to develop software for its portable OCT imaging system. You will work across the algorithms, image acquisition and processing, and the desktop control UI, collaborating with photonics, electronics and optics teams.

The role emphasizes performance, reliability, and turning research into production code. You will report to the CTO and benefit from hybrid working options and opportunities to mentor juniors and shape

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• Experience with low-level software development in Rust/C/C++.
• Ability to solve open-ended engineering problems.
• Strong numerical and scientific reasoning for reliable software.
• Experience with software delivery pipelines and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Develop algorithms for the OCT device software.
• Implement high-performance image acquisition, processing, and visualization pipelines.
• Develop and maintain the Rust desktop application to control the imaging system.
• Optimize algorithms for speed, memory usage, latency and image quality.
• Design interfaces for cameras, stages, optics, and hardware.
• Create state machines and control logic for device operation and calibration.
• Integrate third-party SDKs via FFI.
• Support lab experiments, demonstrations and imaging sessions.
• Contribute to software architecture, reviews, docs and best practices.
• Interact with customers to elicit requirements and provide support.
• Senior: mentor team and lead architecture decisions.
