Oxford Instruments Plc in Bristol is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Embedded) to lead the design, development, delivery and continuous improvement of software across the Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology portfolio. This permanent role combines hands-on development with technical leadership in a Severn Beach facility.

Qualifications

• Significant experience developing commercial software products.
• Experience leading complex technical work and influencing direction.
• Experience working on Windows-based applications and real-time control systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of software for our products and systems.
• Take ownership of complex software projects from concept through delivery.
• Develop high-quality software using technologies including C#, C++ and C.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Engineering, Service, Product Management and Operations.
• Support customers and field service engineers in diagnosing and resolving challenging technical issues.
• Mentor software engineers and help establish best practices across the team.
• Review software designs and implementations to ensure quality, maintainability and security.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the long-term evolution of our software platforms.
