R&D Partners is seeking a Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing cutting-edge medical imaging software for a portable device. You will build algorithms, capture and visualize images, and develop desktop applications to control imaging systems.

The role emphasizes producing production-ready software from research prototypes, collaborating with customers, and contributing to a fast-paced lab environment. Right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Background in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Electronic Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proficiency in Rust, C++, or Python.
• Master's or PhD in a relevant field.
• Experience with Rust or Python programming.
• Familiarity with version control, testing, and continuous integration.
• Background in research-driven environments such as start-ups or academic settings.
• Experience implementing algorithms from scientific research.
• Understanding of signal processing, imaging, optics, or instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Create and improve algorithms for operating imaging devices.
• Develop software for capturing, processing, and visualizing images efficiently.
• Build and maintain desktop applications to control and monitor imaging systems.
• Optimize software for speed, reliability, and memory usage.
• Design interfaces for hardware components like cameras and motion-control systems.
• Develop systems for calibration, data collection, and routine operations.
• Integrate third-party tools and libraries into the software.
• Support testing, demonstrations, and experimental activities in the lab.
• Document software architecture, participate in code reviews, and follow best practices.
• Collaborate with customers to gather feedback and improve the product.
• For senior roles, provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and guide design decisions.
