Job summary

Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology in Severn Beach, Bristol, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Embedded) to lead the design, development, delivery and continuous improvement of software across our product portfolio while remaining hands-on in software development. You will provide technical leadership throughout the software lifecycle, mentor engineers, and ensure robust, secure software aligned with business goals.

Qualifications

• Experience developing commercial software products.
• Strong C#, C++ and/or C development skills.
• Experience leading complex technical work and influencing technical direction.
• Experience working on Windows-based applications and real-time control systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across disciplines.
• Degree in Computing, Physics or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of software for products and systems.
• Take ownership of complex projects from concept through delivery.
• Develop high-quality software using C#, C++, and C.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Service, Product Management and Operations.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices.
• Review designs and implementations for quality, security and maintainability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software platforms.
