Job summary

Pictura Bio Ltd is a fast-growing MedTech start-up developing a next-generation diagnostic platform in Oxford. You will own the optical development of our instrument platforms, translating scientific requirements into robust imaging solutions while collaborating with assay, mechanical, electronics and software teams.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will help design manufacturable optical systems, balance performance with cost and reliability, and contribute to future platform

Qualifications

• 5+ years of optical engineering or imaging system development experience.
• Minimum 2:1 degree in a related subject or extensive industry exposure.
• Experience with fluorescence microscopy-based instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Own the optical design & development of instrument platforms.
• Translate assay and system requirements into optical specifications.
• Specify illumination, filtering and imaging solutions.
• Perform optical tolerance analysis and tolerance stack‑up.
• Select and evaluate optical components and suppliers.
• Contribute to future platform developments and technology assessments.
