Job summary

Optos plc in Dunfermline seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join our Research and Development team. You will design, develop and maintain software enabling clinicians to securely review and manage retinal images, primarily in C# with a focus on the UI and application layer, in an Agile environment.

You'll collaborate across Product Management, DevOps and other development teams, ensuring robust, scalable, and compliant software for medical eyecare, in a fast-paced setting that values quality

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software development with C#/.NET in Windows environments.
• Experience delivering full-stack Microsoft-based apps.
• Familiarity with Agile processes and code reviews.
• Experience with DICOM and medical imaging formats and RESTful APIs.
• CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern delivery practices.
• Cloud-based development and regulated environments (medical devices).
• Experience using GitHub, Jira, and Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable functional software solutions.
• Focus on UI and application layer development in C# and related tech.
• Integrate with internal/external systems and image/metadata delivery platforms.
• Contribute to test strategies, CI/CD, and code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and uphold high development standards.
