Job summary
Leonardo UK is seeking a Project Engineering Manager in Basildon to lead software development across key programmes within the Precision Guidance business area. You will report to the Head of Engineering Projects and drive models and code delivery from requirements through acceptance, aligning with stakeholders on delivery methods.
The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to build effective relationships with engineering leads and external partners to ensure
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent essential.
- Significant experience leading software engineering teams and using Jira in Agile environments.
- Strong understanding of software engineering lifecycle on complex projects.
- Desirable: experience with The MathWorks toolset and defence sector.
Responsibilities
- Lead a dynamic software engineering team and deliver software to time, cost and performance budgets.
- Create and maintain engineering plans with milestones, risks and interdependencies.
- Review project positions and adjust plans to mitigate cost, schedule or performance risks.
- Prepare and communicate monthly engineering status reports.
- Coordinate engineering input into bids as part of the business winning process.
- Line manage Software Engineers and System Modellers.
